Development Research and Training (DRT)

Development Research and Training (DRT) is a local Ugandan-based not-for profit organization, established in 1997 to undertake policy research and analysis to informs pro-poor policies and programmes. We are formally registered as Number 2220” under the “The Non-Government Organizations Registration Statute, 1989. The organization’s overarching objective is the elimination of all forms of poverty particularly chronic poverty. DRT has identified four broad programme areas namely; Social Policy and human development (SPHD); Governance and Transparency (GT); Economic Policy and Livelihoods (EPL) and Capacity Building and Institutional Development (CPID).

To influence the adoption of evidence based pro-poor policies that contribute to the reduction of people living in chronic poverty.

Vision:

To be a leading organization that produces new evidence to inform and influence policies and programs that respond to the needs and aspirations of the poor.

Mission:

To contribute to poverty reduction through action research
